80% of patients in isolation unvaccinated

September 10th, 2021

As of 12:30 p.m. today Friday, September 10th, there were 564 people in isolation.

Of these, 453 patients (80%) were unvaccinated, and 99 (18%) fully vaccinated.

Of the fully vaccinated patients, one is in primary isolation, two are in secondary isolation and the other 96 are in tertiary isolation. There are 12 partially vaccinated people in tertiary isolation.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Tertiary isolation houses patients who are mildly ill, or not showing any symptoms of the illness.

It is important to note that the number of people in isolation changes throughout the day as patients are admitted and discharged.
