Consultant Manager of Home Quarantine, Dr. Adanna Grandison says some people are still waiting too late to seek care and as a result have died – in some cases, without knowing their COVID-19 status.
According to Dr. Grandison, as of Wednesday, 7522 people were in home isolation and 4737 had been discharged since the start of the programme.
She says more people are refusing further care but a small team of medical assessors has been assigned to step in and frequently, most people reconsider.
In other instances, the powers granted to the Chief Medical Officer under the Public Health Emergency Order have been used to remove these people from their homes.
As it relates to people breaching isolation, Dr. Grandison says most people have been complying with stay at home orders.
