While many Barbadians viewed the ashfall in April as a nuisance, two young women saw it as an opportunity.
Rhea Gilkes and Selina Craigg were recently named the winners of the Export Barbados/BIDC Ash Products Competition. They used the ash to develop a foot scrub.
The young entrepreneurs will now have access to a Business Development Officer and the BIDC’s full suite of services, to assist them with packaging, labeling, branding, and securing production and export lines.
