Barbados stands to lose millions of dollars in investment and scores of potential jobs if plans for the transformation of the Edgewater Hotel fall through.
At the beginning of the month, Cheyne Jones travelled to the Bathsheba, St. Joseph location where he learned that international company Ullswater Limited bought the property and is ready to begin major upgrades.
However, they have been stalled by an adjoining lot which is home to the abandoned Edgewater Villas, which pose a health hazard and residents have complained about on numerous occasions.
That lot is owned by the National Bank of Dominica and Ullswater made an offer to purchase and clean it so as to incorporate it in their development.
However, the company says it hasn’t heard back from the Bank after an agreement was made to settle the matter by the end of last month.
Our Cheyne Jones has the latest on the situation, and notes that later in the evening he was able to make contact with their attorney, who declined to comment on the matter.
