A suggestion that the true economic impact of tourism in Barbados and the Caribbean is misunderstood.

It has come from Group Executive Chairman of Sandals Resort International, Adam Stewart, during the Central Bank of Barbados’ Caribbean Economic Forum. He was responding to a question about the region’s dependence on travel and tourism and whether it should be seeking to diversify its offerings.

Mr. Stewart says in the absence of high value minerals like those found in Guyana, it would be better for countries to see how tourism can amplify other key sectors like manufacturing and agriculture.

Chief Executive Officer of Goddard Enterprises Limited, Anthony Ali, was also part of the discussion.

He weighed in on the future of work-from-home arrangements.
