A brazen attempt by an inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds to flee the St. Philip penal institution just after midday resulted in him being shot by prison officers.
This was confirmed by Superintendent of Prisons Lieutenant Colonel John Nurse who told CBC News the inmate was shot as he attempted to scale a wall around half past twelve this afternoon.
He told CBC News the injury sustained by the inmate was not life threatening.
Lieutenant Colonel Nurse says a thorough investigation is being undertaken in relations to this escape attempt.
Lieutenant Colonel Nurse also commended his officers for the professionalism shown in executing their duties during this ordeal.
