Two Barbadians medal at Pan American Track Cycling Championships

Two Barbadians have won medals in the Scratch Race at the Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Peru.

21 year old Barbadian Cyclist Amber Joseph won gold in the women’s competition on Friday.

Joseph beat out Mexico’s Victoria Velasco and Alexi Costa of Trinidad and Tobago in a sprint to the finish. She clocked 15 minutes to take the 10-kilometre race of 40 laps.

Tuesday is the final day of competition and over 160 athletes are competing at the championships in Peru’s capital city Lima. The event was originally scheduled to take place from March 31st to April 7th, but organisers were forced to reschedule due to complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile 28 year old Jamol Eastmond won silver in the men’s section of the Scratch Race.
