Umbrella agency being created to cater to social services needs

One umbrella agency is being created to cater to the social services needs of Barbadians.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Blue Economy Kirk Humphrey, provided more details on the entity during a St. Michael South branch meeting.

He says Government has heard the concerns of people as it relates to the Welfare Department and is in the process of restructuring the social services sector.

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Dwight Sutherland, revealed his Ministry has helped 18 young people become entrepreneurs under the Building Blocks Project.

Kiosks have so far been constructed in Silver Hill, Bonnetts, the Ivy and Parkinson Field.

Minister Sutherland says they are now at the stage of architectural drawings for another set in Bayville, St. Michael.
