Very warm conditions expected over next few days

September 18th, 2021

The Barbados Meteorological Service is advising the public to expect some very warm conditions over the next few days.

This as it continues to closely monitor a tropical wave and associated area of low pressure located near 15N 51W, or about 920 km (570 miles) east northeast of Barbados at 11:00 a.m.

Environmental conditions around the system have improved in the past 24 hours and this has resulted in some better organization of the system. However, development is still expected to be slow over the next 24 to 48 hours as the system moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph.

Current model guidance has been persistent in indicating that the system will pass well north of Barbados sometime early next week. Therefore, this system does not pose any direct threat to the island, and no watches or warnings are in effect for Barbados.

However, winds across Barbados are expected to fall off from the afternoon of Saturday, September 18th, 2021 into Monday, September 20th, 2021, resulting in very warm conditions outside followed by the possibility of afternoon downpours in some western districts.

The Met Office says no further statements on this weather feature will be issued.
