Haiti ends search and rescue mission after earthquake

Haiti has ended search and rescue operations on Friday, almost 3 weeks after a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the country.

Over 2,200 were killed, and 300 missing and now feared dead following the August 14th quake.

The Technical Directorate of the National Emergency Operations Center (COUN) during a working meeting with representatives of the sectors involved in the management of the response said since the quake, several teams had been in the field rescuing people from the rubble as well as those trapped in the mountains of the Massif de la Hotte following landslides.

Local teams were joined by international rescue groups from the United States, Colombia, France, Brazil, United Kingdom, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
