Court dismisses application seeking injunction to postpone general election

The High Court has dismissed the application seeking an injunction to postpone tomorrow’s general election.

Madame Justice, Cicely Chase handed down the decision moments ago after several hours of deliberation.

She said the proper forum to hear the case would be an election court, and not the High Court.

Madame Justice Chase said with no jurisdiction to determine the matter, the High Court cannot entertain the claimant’s application for injunctive relief and therefore could make no order.

The decision effectively paves the way for tomorrow’s general election to go forward as planned.
