The Immunisation Unit of the Ministry of Health and Wellness is currently still operating but with a smaller team.

Co-coordinator of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, Major David Clarke, said the Unit has not been disbanded even though satellite sites have been closed and COVID-19 vaccinations are now only being administered at the island’s polyclinics.

He explained that the Unit will still be issuing vaccination certificates and will be functioning up until the end of January, 2023.

The Immunisation Unit was set up in February 2021 at the height of the pandemic to manage Barbados’ COVID-19 vaccination programme. After it ceases operating, the Ministry of Health and Wellness will take over responsibility for dispatching certificates. (PR)
