Ministry of Education issues apology for controversial survey

October 6th, 2022

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training has issued an apology for the administration of a controversial survey to first form students at some of the island’s secondary schools.

The survey, which was administered by the Inter-American Development Bank through code.org, contained questions which the Ministry had objected to prior to its administration. In a statement last night in which the IDB also apologised, it noted that the questions were inadvertently left in.

Chief Education Officer Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw says in response to concerns raised by some parents, the Ministry will be holding several meetings.

Here is her full statement.
