Barbados picked up six medals last evening in the final session of the 36th CARIFTA swimming championships in Curacao, to end the competition with 35 medals – 10-gold, 10-silver and 15-bronze.
They also finished fifth overall in the points table with 474 points as The Bahamas were the winners with 1,113.
Jaiya Simmons picked up one of two gold medals in the curtain-closing events when she touch the wall first in a time of 27.28 seconds in the Girls 13-14 50 Metre Freestyle.
The other gold was won by the 13-14 Girls 200 Metre Relay team of Simmons, Heidi Stoute, Toria Alleyne and Isabella Mayers in a time of one minute 53.46 seconds.
There was one silver from Amiya Harrison in the 11-12 girls 100 Metre Breaststroke.
While three bronze medals were added thanks to Zachary Burke in the 11-12 Boys 50 Metre Freestyle, Adara Stoddard in the 15-17 Girls 100 Metre Breaststroke and the 11-12 Girls Relay team of Khalia Springer, M’Rya Maycock, Naomi Als and Amiya Harrison were third in the 200 Metre Freestyle Relay.
Meanwhile, it was one final golden performance for Heidi Stoute, as this morning she won the girls 11-12 Open Water Swim.
The team returns home tomorrow.
