Vehicle fires raise alarm

January 15, 2023

Road safety advocate, Junior Jordan is impressing on the importance of vehicle maintenance, as investigations continue into two vehicle fires on Friday at different locations in St. Michael.

One vehicle – a sedan caught fire at the junction at Welches Road, Two Mile Hill and Tweetside and the other incident involving a Suzuki Swift, took place on Haggatt Hall Main Road.

Vehicle owner, Philip Seale, whose Swift was destroyed, says he was on his way from work and was alerted something was amiss when he smelt a strange odour.

There were no injuries arising from the two incidents.

Mr Jordan tells CBC news that maintenance is key in reducing any semblance of fire, whether electrical or otherwise.

He wants drivers to read their vehicle manuals and not ignore problems.
