Barbados has named a dental surgeon as its first ever Honorary Consul to its fellow Caribbean Community (CARICOM) neighbour, Trinidad and Tobago.
A government statement said that Dr. Roosevelt Rock, a Barbadian living and practising dentistry in Trinidad for almost two decades, has been appointed to the position.
It said that he is now currently in Barbados, and recently paid a courtesy call on Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Cecile Humphrey.
Rock said that while he has been “unofficially” defending the interests of Barbadians in the twin island republic for several years, he was happy to have been officially appointed to the post.
He has also assured that he was looking forward to continuing “the good bilateral relations” between the countries, the statement added.
