The Barbados Employers Confederation has identified a number of key issues that it believes will need to be addressed in the New Year.

In her New Year's message, the BEC's executive director Sheena Mayers-Granville says there's a need to develop comprehensive strategies that maximize opportunities for the creation of decent and quality employment, and minimise adverse effects on employment and working conditions.

She adds that agile business environments need to be developed, which provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and society to innovate, launch and finance new businesses in the formal economy.

The BEC's executive director also wants to see the development of legal frameworks that promote formally registered companies, that comply with the law, and support the different forms of employment required by evolving business models based on fundamental principles and rights at work.
