More taxation shouldn't be focus of any political party at this time, if Barbados is to recover from its current economic status.

That's according to leader of the United Progressive Party and candidate for the City, Lynette Eastmond.

She was speaking at the spot meeting in Carrington Village.

Ms. Eastmond, who was responding to the Barbados Labour Party's manifesto plan to replace road tax with a tax on gas, said the next government should instead be facilitating more start-up enterprises and expanding the creative sector.
