Barbados' first insectary should be up and running by early next year.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kenneth George, says it will be used to conduct studies on the disease-carrying Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

Even though they've been no confirmed cases of Zika for over a year, it's still posing a threat to tourism in the region.

In 2016, nine Canadian visitors tested positive for Zika after returning home.

According to USAID mission director for the Eastern and Southern Caribbean, Christopher Cushing, at least one category of traveler is being advised against visiting the region.
