There will soon be at least eight, government owned, electric vehicles being driven on the roads of Barbados.

This is because of a pilot project under the public sector smart energy programme.

Managing director of Mega Power Limited Joanna Edgehill is hoping that through this project the taxes on these vehicles will be reduced.

Minister of State responsible for energy and telecommunication Senator Darcy Boyce says there will be an addition of two electric buses.

He says this project will provide the empirical data needed for policy to change.
