The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill is strengthening its ties with the nation of Cuba.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between UWI and the University of Havana, as well as Cuba's Ministry of Health.
During the signing ceremony, principal of the UWI Cave Hill, Eudine Barriteau lauded Cuba for its continued contribution to the development of Barbados and the Caribbean in general.
She says this latest agreement gives students the chance to take advantage of the many opportunities Cuba has to offer.
It's just one step in the push to deepen relations with Cuba.
Cuba's ambassador to Barbados Dr Francisco Pena says commitments such as the ones signed between the two universities are a continuation of the path set by Cuba's revolutionary leaders, like Jose Marti and Fidel Castro.
