Two Barbadian fishermen missing at sea for the past week, have reportedly been found safe in Venezuela.
They left the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex aboard the iceboat Pearlita, which was captained by Kurt Watson, and was also carrying Michael Hawkesworth.
Watson and Hawkesworth left Barbados on March 26th on a fishing trip and after an initial SOS about a week later, there had been no contact or word of them until Thursday
A relative, June Haynes, said she received information from caretaker Randolph Blackman that the boat was found.
It is believed that Watson and Hawkesworth were rescued and taken for medical attention.
When contacted officials at the Fisheries Department said they too had heard the news and are awaiting information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the matter.
They also indicated that they have contacted the Barbados Coast Guard about the latest development.
