Sagicor General has already started to pay claims arising from damage to businesses and homes in Dominica, caused by Hurricane Maria.
That's according to assistant vice president for claims, John Chandler.
He was recently in the island for almost two weeks, along with other officials from the company.
Mr Chandler says they were able to get a full assessment of the situation on the ground, having met with and visited a number of affected customers.
Mr. Chandler says they have been utilising a number of communication methods, including social media platforms like whatsapp to receive reports.
He says the flow of information was instrumental in their ability to start paying claims.
