About two thousand Barbadians could be afflicted with autism.
That's the figure suggested by Lawton Walcott, the president of the Autism Association of Barbados, which is on a drive to make Barbadians more aware of the condition.
Mr. Walcott was speaking after receiving a cheque from the St. Patrick Heritage and Community Association to assist the organisation with its continuing work.
It held a number of fundraising events earlier this year and the proceeds have been donated to churches and organisations in that community.
