The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has received a much needed Christmas gift that will help cancer patients.
Barbadian megastar, Rihanna through her non-profit Clara-Lionel Foundation has donated $3.5 million dollars in oncology equipment to the health care facility.
The disclosure was made during a ceremony, where the oncology department at the hospital was renamed the Clara Brathwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear medicine in honour of her late grandmother.
Rihanna says her foundation is committed to helping meet some of the needs of the QEH and thanked officials for honouring her grandmother in this fashion.
Health Minister, Donville Inniss says Rihanna has set an example for other local charities.
The unveiling ceremony was also a bit emotional for family members, including her mother, Monica Brathwaite and she and others witnessed the former Oncology Department being renamed to honour Rihanna's late grandmother, Clara.
