Barbados has been chosen to be the first small nation and small island developing state to host the UN conference on Trade and Development’s 15th quadrennial event.
The conference is to be held October 15th, 2020.
In a formal bid presented at the assembly hall of the UN in Geneva, Minister of Tourism and International Affairs Kerrie Symmonds outlined why Barbados is the ideal destination for the world’s largest conference on trade and development.
Barbados will be the host of five major parallel events to take place over the 10 days and will attract over 3500 people to Barbados over the 10 day period.
Barbados’ Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Chad Blackman successfully negotiated the bid with the UN over the last three months.
