RSA opposes legalization of marijuana

The legalization of recreational marijuana is being strongly opposed by a group of concerned citizens.

Last year, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced that a framework for medicinal cannabis was being worked on but the decriminalisation of marijuana for recreational use would have to be decided by a referendum.

President of the Barbados Road Safety Association, Sharmane Rowland-Bowen says even though no date has been set for the referendum, the group is being proactive in its approach to educating Barbadians about the dangers of recreational use of the drug.
