After several delays, Barbadians now have access to 24 hour medical services at the Winston Scott Polyclinic.
Speaking during the official opening ceremony, Health Minister Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, says this is the start of plans to revisit the polyclinics system.
He says this is necessary as the current system was created at a time when records were done manually which meant that people were tied to specific catchment areas.
Minister Bostic says the 24 hour facility at the David Thompson Health and Social Services Complex will begin as soon as adequate human resources are available.
To that end, he says a team of health professionals is preparing to travel to West Africa to begin the recruitment of Ghanaian nurses.
