As Barbados and others in the region mark the 185th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, the revolutionary action of our ancestors has been hailed as a significant achievement in Caribbean history.
Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong, expressed this view during the annual Emancipation Day celebrations at the Bussa Statue.
Mr. Comissiong says the slave uprisings across Barbados and other territories, were instrumental in driving the abolition process.
