The country’s sanitation workers are not to blame for the pile up of garbage around Barbados.
This firm statement from the National Union of Public Workers, Acting Deputy General Secretary Wayne Walrond.
A vote at a meeting on August 16th with sanitation workers and the NUPW revealed that an overwhelming majority of 85 percent of those present, preferred to remain on a Monday to Friday work week.
However, Mr. Walrond says the workers and the union are open to further dialogue, to alleviate the situation as it relates to garbage collection.
The NUPW General Secretary says these sanitation workers face many hazards on a daily basis and should be treated with the dignity they deserve.
