A lack of investment by the private sector has been hampering countries in the region’s ability to achieve large scale production of goods and services.
That’s the belief of Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley.
She says this has especially been the case, with the agricultural sector.
Prime Minister Mottley made the point during the launch of phase two of the “Development of the Coconut Industry for the Caribbean Project”.
She believes by working together, the region’s five billion US dollar food import bill could be significantly reduced.
But Ms. Mottley says issues of air and maritime transport within the region must first be addressed.
