Maynards 37-year stint at BOA is at an end

After 37 consecutive years of helping to guide Olympism in Barbados, veteran track and field administrator, Esther Maynard is off the board of the Barbados Olympic Association

At Wednesday night’s Annual General Meeting, Maynard, who was a member of the BOA’s board since 1982, was defeated by weightlifting administrator Shelly Griffith for one of the three director positions up for grabs.

Maynard only received 17 – the least of the four nominees – while Griffith got the 2nd-most votes with 24.

The other directors elected to serve are Dr. Adrian Lorde of tennis received 25 votes and Mona Alleyne of netball with 23.

All other board members whose positions were due for elections were all returned unopposed.

They included President Sandra Osborne and Assistant General Secretary Cammie Burke.
