Pride defeat Scorpions

Barbados Pride are off to a winning start in the Colonial Medical Insurance regional Super 50 tournament after crushing Jamaica Scorpions by 75 runs at Warner Park in St.Kitts on Thursday.

Winning the toss and batting first the Pride racked up 265 all out in their 50 overs led by Nicholas Kirton with 55, while Kyle Mayers hit 52 and Ashley Nurse a quick-fire 38.

 For the Scorpions, Andre McCarthy took four for 41 and Oshane Thomas four for 52.

In reply the Scorpions were bowled out for 190 in 39.5 overs.

Nurse returned to grab 4-26 and pacer Chemar Holder, 3-37.

Andre McCarthy was top-scorer for the Scorpions with 95 off 83.

Meanwhile, at Queens Park Oval, unbeaten centuries by Darren Bravo and Jeremy Solozano led the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to a comfortable eight wicket win against Windward Islands Volcanoes.

Chasing 239 for victory the Red Force reached 239-2 in 42.5 overs.

Bravo finished 115 not out off 127 balls and Solozano an unbeaten 102 off 118 for his maiden list “a” century.

Earlier, batting first, the Volcanoes racked up 238-8 led by Kavem Hodge with 57 and Desron Maloney 56.

Yannick Ottley took 2-34 and captain Imran Khan 2-28.
