PM says “Fix it”

Government and the Barbados Light and Power Company Limited have agreed to cooperate to solve power generation problems that have led to islandwide outages Monday and Tuesday this week.

So says Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley after meeting with representatives from the BL&P and parent company Emera on Tuesday night.

The Prime Minister also was afforded a closer look at the power company’s Spring Garden station.

Ms. Mottley expressed concern that the problems are occuring at a critical time in the island’s development.

Officials from the Barbados Water Authority attended the meeting.

Ms. Mottley also spoke about resolving some of the ongoing challenges the BWA has been encountering.

Full power was restored Tuesday night.

Managing Director of the BL&P Roger Blackman has apologized to customers for the outages and also spoke about ongoing fuel problems that have been affecting their equipment.
