Water relief coming

Residents of Hampton, New Market, Bowmanston and Alleynedale who were affected by water outages due to facilities at the Belle, St. Stephens and Half Acre being down are being told to expect some relief.

This according to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) which says the facilities are back online thanks to standby generators from the Barbados Light & Power Company (BLPC).

The BWA says customers are reminded that water pressure will be restored gradually to the areas fed from these locations as the distribution network recovers.

Officials say in the meantime work is in progress at Lodge Hill, Waterford, Whim, Haymans, Sweet Vale and the Ionics Desalination Plant with a view to getting them online.

BWA officials however note that these eventualities largely dependent on the restoration of a stable electrical supply to these stations.

The Authority is reminding customers who have tap borne water to collect and store water in the event that the outages continue or recur.
