High surf warning issued

A high surf advisory and small craft warning have been issued for Barbados.

The met office says a strong high pressure system has been generating winds of 37 to 46 k per hour, and swells of 7 to 8 feet over the past 12 hours.

A further deterioration in these conditions is expected as swells are expected to peak near 11 feet.

As a result, a high-surf advisory and small-craft warning is in effect for Barbados from 11 a.m. today, until 12 noon Wednesday.

Large waves and dangerous rip-currents will create unsafe conditions for small-craft operators, particularly on the eastern coastlines of Barbados.

These conditions may become even more adverse at times of high tide.

Sea-bathers are also advised to stay out of the water.
