Several injured in traffic accident

Police are probing a two vehicle smash-up in St. James which resulted in seven people being injured on Monday.

The accident occurred just after one in the afternoon along Oxnards Main road at its junction with Oxnard Road in St. James.

Police say the accident involved a route taxi owned by Ramonaas Transport of Mahogany Lane St. Michael and driven by 38 years old Andre Simmonds of Spring Farm, St. Thomas and a motor car owned by Marcia Hurley of number 53 Violet Circle, Oxnard St. James and driven by 35 years old Shanisa Hurley.

Police say the taxi was travelling along Oxnard Main Road when it collided with the car.

Four ambulances were summoned to take the injured persons to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

The injured included six passengers of the taxi, the van-driver and the driver of the car.

Police say none of the injuries was life threatening.
