Preparations for UNCTAD begin

A technical mission from the Geneva-based Secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development or UNCTAD, has arrived in Barbados to advance preparations for the fifteenth Quadrennial conference.

It is scheduled to take place from October 18th to 23rd this year.

During the visit, the UNCTAD technical team, will be meeting with the national coordinating committee, and discussing substantive issues relating to preparations for the conference, as well as paying site visits to the locations where various events will be held.

The conference is the highest decision-making body of UNCTAD and is held every four years.

Barbados is the smallest country to host, since it began in 1964.
