Projects in the works to uplift disabled community

Government is undertaking a number of projects to give members of the disable community more independence as well as upward social mobility.

Word of this from Minister of People’s Empowerment and Elder Affairs Cynthia Forde.

Speaking on Wednesday evening during the official opening of the National Disabilities Unit headquarters at Maxwellton in Collymore Rock, Minister Forde stressed these were being undertaken by government at a time when the country was facing tough economic challenges.

She noted that among these will be an agricultural project which will see about half an acre of land at Mangrove, St. Philip being made available to the National Assistance Board for horticultural farming for members of the disable community.

Minister Forde says they are hoping to improve the traffic operations within the environs of the new building as well, thereby making the streets more disable friendly.
