Another organization has thrown its support behind calls for policies to address the growing issues of childhood obesity and NCD’s.
This time it’s the Diabetes Association of Barbados.
President, Trudy Griffith, says the country is facing a serious challenge of obesity among its children and young adults.
That’s why the association will once again this summer hold two camps…Camp Pride and Camp Wellness, which target children living with Type 1 Diabetes and those at risk of contracting the disease.
Ms. Griffith was speaking during the launch of the two camps which cater
to children between the ages of six and 16.
They feature activities such as a cook-off, arts and drama and for the first time this year, basic CPR training.
Coordinator of Camp Pride, Sandie Belle, says campers will also be participating in some We Gatherin’ activities in the parish of St. Philip.
