People with chronic illnesses urged to protect selves

Following news that Barbados recorded its first two Covid 19 cases, Barbadians with chronic respiratory illnesses have been advised to protect themselves by avoiding large gatherings and practising good hand hygiene regularly.

The advice is coming from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

While noting there is no cure for asthma, patients were reminded prescribed maintenance medication when used as directed by a physician can prevent an asthma attack.

Patients of the Chest Out-Patient Clinic with scheduled appointments between now and June 1st, are asked to call the hospital’s Respiratory Unit to facilitate the collection of prescription scripts.

They are also asked to ensure they obtain a three month-supply of all prescribed medications.
