Minister of Education, Santia Bradshaw, has announced that the school term for public nursery, primary and secondary schools will come to an end tomorrow, Thursday, March 19.
Following Wednesday’s online consultation on COVID-19 and its impact on educational institutions with stakeholders, Ms. Bradshaw said she made representation to the regular pre-Cabinet Parliamentary group meeting and it was agreed that in light of several factors, schools would close a week early for the Easter break.
Some of these factors, she pointed out, included the fact that “Thursday and Friday of this week were scheduled sports days and that next week is the final week of term…”
As a result, she said the end of the current school term would be “brought forward”.
The Education Minister further noted that her Ministry would continue consultations with stakeholders on the way forward “in light of the escalated coronavirus pandemic”.
