The National Insurance Scheme has been preparing itself for the anticipated increase in claims, as the business community feels the impact of Covid-19.
This from Labour Minister, Colin Jordan in the latest media conference from Ilaro Court.
The briefing was done digitally for the first time, to observe the social distancing protocols that came into effect when Barbados moved to Stage two of the Covid-19 pandemic response.
Minister Jordan says the NIS Board met last week and put in place a number of systems that will allow them to handle the increased traffic.
Minister Jordan has also confirmed the process for people to apply for unemployment benefits has changed.
