Despite the blow dealt by Covid-19 to its contributing countries and the current cash crunch brought on by the pandemic, the University of the West Indies is taking steps to ensure the institution does not fall.
Vice Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles says lessons have been learnt by the UWI, noting work has already started to get the institution through the pandemic.
He revealed during the Vice Chancellor report UWI is also in the process of devising Covid-19 budgets.
Sir Hilary welcomed moves by Barbados in settling its debt with the UWI along with the injection of cash and commitments from other governments.
He remains upbeat despite the waning government contributions and the current challenges.
