Met office monitoring weather development

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of an area of low pressure currently embedded within the monsoon trough, located near 9 degrees north, 39 degrees west.

The system is moving towards the west at 10 miles an hour, and is located about one thousand, four hundred and twenty miles to the east south-east of Barbados.

Officials say this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours or so, with a gradual turn towards the west north-west afterwards.

Convection remains somewhat disorganized at the moment, as environmental conditions are currently not conducive for rapid development of the system.

However, officials say the system is tracking westward across the Central Atlantic and some slow development is possible.

The MET office says the next update will come at ten Wednesday morning, or sooner, if, conditions warrant.
