Lowenfield to appear in court Friday

Guyana’s Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield is expected to appear at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Friday on three private criminal charges.

The charges were filed on June 30 by People’s Progressive Party (PPP) member Desmond Morian and Member of The New Movement, Daniel Josh Kanhai.

Mr Lowenfield was initially slated to appear in court on July 3 but did not show up after the court’s bailiff was unable to serve the documents on him.

As such Magistrate Faith McGusty instructed the authorities to ensure Mr. Lowenfield is served before his next court appearance on July 24.

The Chief Elections Officer is facing charges relating to fraud, misconduct in office and breach of the public’s trust by providing results of the March 2nd elections, which he knows to be false.
