Former High Commissioner to Canada Senator Reginald Farley says his return to Parliament after more than a decade is like going home.
Farley was sworn in as the island’s newest Senator during a brief ceremony at Government House Thursday morning.
He took the oath before Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and other government ministers, as well as his daughter Lydia and son-in-law Shane.
Senator Farley, who has been selected for the post of President of the Senate, says he sees it as an opportunity to give back and help mentor young leaders in the public, private and non-governmental sectors.
Senator Farley says it was a great honour to serve as High Commissioner to Canada for the past two years.
