Home Affairs Minister, Wilfred Abrahams, says the flooding experienced on Monday could have been a lot worst if not for the extensive drainage works done recently.
Minister Abrahams was speaking to the media following an event at the St.Bartholomew’s Primary School Tuesday morning.
He reveals that he and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley toured several city areas prone to flooding including Murphy’s Pasture.
According to the minister, over two inches of rain fell in just half hour, but this time the water receded very quickly.
While confirming some residents would have experienced flood damage, Minister Abrahams was at the time unable to speak to the extent, as he had not yet received the official report.
He adds that poor waste disposal practices continues to be a concern.
