New independent senator sworn in

Barbados newest independent senator, Julian Hunte says he will focus on issues affecting the trade union movement.

The former Deputy General Secretary of the Barbados Workers Union and industrial relations expert was sworn in during a ceremony at Government House Friday morning by Dame Sandra Mason.

He replaces Toni Moore who is the BLP’s nominee for the upcoming St George North by-election.

Senator Hunte says he will be drawing from his experience serving at a senior level in the trade union movement and in the private sector.
