Barbados’ health authorities are not fazed by the CDC’s rating of the island as high risk for contracting Covid-19.
This from Health Minister, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic who says in fact, a vast majority of Barbados’ 215 recorded cases have come from overseas, particularly from among visitors and locals returning from the United States and United Kingdom.
Minister Bostic also commented on the potential impact the rating could have on the already struggling tourism industry.
As to whether officials will seek to get Barbados removed from the tier three listing, the Minister said he would have to discuss it with both the Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister.
He says Barbados had a similar experience with Germany recently but communication with the relevant authorities there through Barbados’ consular channels saw the rating changed to something more favourable.
